GB Age group

Road to GB

As the places to be an GB age grouper are starting to drop into peoples mail boxes, its time to start thinking about do you want to qualify, and if so maybe you are unsure how to go about it!

It took me a while to get my head around the process, but I knew some one local who had previously qualified and she kindly give me advise on how to do it.

Firstly decide if you want to compete in the World Championships or the European Championships.

I qualified for the European Championships, and was lucky enough to get the chance to adorn the GB kit and race in Menem, Belgium this year.

When deciding it can be a bit difficult as some locations of the races take awhile to be released, and the worlds can be anywhere, like next year they will take place in Australia!

This is not my only reason for opting for the European races, this category gives you a little bit more wiggle room to qualify.

How do I qualify?

Firstly choose where you want to compete for GB. Then you will need to find a qualifying race. these can be found on the British Triathlon website. Put in your intent to qualify. Then get training!!

I qualified in middle distance, which there are no actual qualifying races to attend, so you have to pick an event that meets the criteria and put in your times.

I used Outlaw Holkham as my qualifying event.

What Next?

If you have qualified you will receive an email welcoming you to the team, a passcode to the GB kit and access to the private Facebook groups, here you will find your team mates and lots of support.

Its so much fun being part of GB as well as an amazing achievement, give it a go you might just surprise yourself.

I'm off to check my emails.....I might see you on the start line in 2024.
